There is more to the forthcoming February 17 release of Marathi film ‘Ranjan’ than just awesome singing by Ajay Gogavale. Interestingly, director Prakash Janardhan Pawar, Associate director Amira Mam and producer Ravindra Kailas Harpale, have decided to cast two teenager debutants — Yash and Gauri — to play the roles of the lovers.

While Yash is 16 and studies in Class IX in City High School, Sangli, Gauri too is all of 16, and studies science in Class XI from Bhausaheb Firodiya High School, in Ahmednagar.

Megamarathi caught up with the two hot debutants for a tete-a-tete with them about their experience of working in Ranjan and their debut.

  • MegaMarathi  : Please tell us something about yourself; our readers are excited to know more about you

Gauri Kulkarni (GK): I come from a family that is traditionally inclined towards music. I inherited the legacy of music and rhythm from my grandfather R B Kulkarni and my father and mother always encouraged me to hone my musical as well as acting skills.

I have successfully contested many music and dance competitions. Be it Ashta Vinayak Contest, Lokmat Contest, or musical competitions on Sahyadri or Saam Marathi I was always an avid participant.

I was awarded with a certificate by Indian Book of Records for my dance recital on ETV’s Naad Khula programme. In fact, my first break to act in Ranjan happened only because of this programme.

Currently, I am studying Kathak for the fifth year from Manisha Tai Sathe’s academy in Ahmednagar. I also won the Swaranand Ahmednagar award.

  • MegaMarathi : What was your experience like while shooting for Ranjan?

Gauri Kulkarni: It was an enlightening and ennobling experience to work with such talented actors from the industry. I am grateful to Prakash Sir Ravindra Sir for giving me such a superb opportunity to act in a film that espouses social message and offers a new outlook of looking at the youth in our society.

Of course, I learned a lot about what acting is all about from all those who I met and interacted during the shoot of Ranjan.

  • MegaMarathi : Tell us why anybody should watch Ranjan?

Gauri Kulkarni : The film offers a fresh outlook towards how society deals with teenagers who fall in love and the film ends with a social message that is quite touching and enlightening. Ranjan will offer the country’s youth with a beautiful cinematic experience.

I am sure the film will be loved not just by a young audience but also those who are mothers, fathers, uncles, brothers, grandparents.

  • MegaMarathi : What are your future aspirations?

Gauri Kulkarni : While I am wishing and studying to be a doctor I always wanted to work with talented people in the Marathi film industry and learn what acting is all about.

  • MegaMarathi.Com team heartily wishes to Yash and entire Ranjan team for grand success.

MegaMarathi caught up with the two hot debutants for a tete-a-tete with them about their experience of working in Ranjan and their debut.

Here’s what Yash told us about his debut and experience of shooting for the big screen.

  • MegaMarathi : Could you tell us about yourself? Something that your fans as well as those who are eagerly awaiting Ranjan’s release would love to know?

Yash Kulkarni  : I was always interested in acting and would often participate in school’s social gatherings and in plays. My uncle Nitin Dikshit, who was the writer-director for Marathi film Avatarachi Goshta, gave me my first break in the film. I played Manglya’s role in the film.

For this role I was awarded the best child co-actor at the Kalyan Film Festival, Infa Awards, Sahyadri Cine Awards, and was nominated for the role of best child co-actor at Zee Gaurav.

  • MegaMarathi : How did you land up in Ranjan?

Yash Kulkarni  : Prakash Sir (Ranjan’s director Prakash Janardhan Pawar) saw my role in ‘Avatarachi Goshta’ and had liked my role. He wanted a fresh face for Ranjan and when Somnath Vaishnav, who was in the production team of Avatarachi Goshta, gave him my number he called me and asked me to meet him for an audition.

Fortunately, he liked my audition and Prakash Sir selected me for the film’s lead role. I am very thankful to Prakash Sir for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.

  • MegaMarathi : How was it working for Ranjan?

Yash Kulkarni  : It was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed shooting for the film and got an opportunity to work with senior actors in the industry. I have just begun my film career and I have to learn a lot to establish myself in the industry. I am sure with blessings of people like Prakash Sir and Harpale Sir and all the senior artistes who helped me in this industry till today I will be able to make a mark.

  • MegaMarathi: Give us some solid reasons why you would want people to see Ranjan?

Yash Kulkarni : Ranjan offers a very different but unique perspective of how society looks at teenagers and children. The film also offers a solid social message.

Let me not reveal more about Ranjan; instead I will rather request all the readers and their family to come and watch Ranjan at the nearest theatre near them.

  • MegaMarathi team heartily wishes to Yash and entire Ranjan team for grand success.

It’s A Dream Come True Expressed Hardik Joshi (Rana)

Expressing his excitement after seeing Kumar on the sets of Tujhyat Jeev Rangla, Hardeek Joshi, who has essayed the character of lead hero Rana in the serial said, “We were told that a special personality was going to visit us on the sets. Even till the last moment nobody revealed to us about who this personality would be. That had pushed our adrenaline a bit but we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw Akshay Kumar standing in front of us and talking to us. It was all like a dream come true. The shoot started that day and suddenly Akshay Kumar made his entry.

I enjoyed doing the scene with him. The actor who we only saw in films was there before us. There was some pressure and nervous excitement too but Akshay Sir made us feel comfortable. While I was happy about reaching millions of households through Zee Marathi, meeting Akshay Kumar has made me feel proud.

Akshay Kumar to meet Tujhyat Jeev Rangla’s Rana soon

When Akshay’s Jolly makes Rana’s dream come true

The lead actor of one of the many popular TV serials on Zee Marathi, Tujhyat Jeev Rangla, was in for a pleasant surprise when superstar Akshay Kumar came face to face with him recently on the sets of the serial in a five star hotel outside Kolhapur.

The serial has been on a crest on the back of solid support from the audiences. Even Rana’s love story with school teacher Anjali is blossoming beautifully in Kolhapur’s red soil. Anjali has finally fallen for the simpleton and Rana too has begun to realise his love for Anjali but is unable to express his love to her.

And to help Rana express his love for his lady, Jagdeeshwar aka Jolly LLB is coming to his rescue. Soon, the serial’s avid watchers will get to see the handsome hunk promoting his next film Jolly LLB 2 on Tujhyat Jeev Rangla.

Come February 1 and 2, you will get to see Khiladi Kumar promoting his film at 7.30 pm on Zee Marathi.

Anjali’s friend Kalpesh has taken Rana and Anjali to a five star hotel and that is where Kolhapur’s lovable Rana comes face to face with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.

As Kalpesh mocks the way Rana has dressed and makes him feel small about his financial background, Khiladi Kumar comes to his rescue and asks him to feel confident about himself and his love for Anjali. Rana, who feels low on confidence when Kalpesh mocks his dressing style, Akshay Kumar’s words brings back his confidence.

Finally, Rana feels confident enough to let his lady love know about his feelings for her.

Jolly who has come to meet a senior lawyer at the five star witnesses how Rana is treated by Kalpesh and gives him some legal advice to get his confidence back. This scene from Tujhyat Jeev Rangla was recently shot in a five star hotel in Kolhapur, away from the the bucolic surroundings in rural settings and this was the first time the entire crew moved lock, stock and barrel to another setting, offering a much needed respite.

The mood among the film’s crew was electrified by Khiladi Kumar’s presence on the sets. While the actors were pleasantly surprised and excited too to find Kumar on the sets, they were also overwhelmed by his presence and wanted to give their best shots to impress him.

But being a great sport that Akshay is, the tension and nervousness soon melted away as Kumar entertained and earned their respect by his fun-loving and down-to-earth nature. In fact, he had a heart-to-heart talk with not just the film’s actors, directors and writers but became friends with everybody on the sets.

While Akshay had promoted his Rustom from the sets of Chala Hawa Yeu Dya, he had a change of heart and decided to promote his film on an ongoing daily soap opera, a first for the Marathi TV industry.

Why AB, Sallu, Sachin Khedekar And More Tweets ‘Don’t Watch’ ‘Dhyanimani’ ?

Why AB, Sallu, Sachin Khedekar And More Tweets 'Don't Watch' 'Dhyanimani'

‘Don’t Watch’ Mahesh Majrekar’s ‘Dhyanimani’ tweet AB, Sallu, Sachin Khedekar and more

Have you ever come across a film’s publicity where you have superstars from Bollywood as well as Marathi cinema tweeting ‘Don’t watch this movie’!

Shocking you might call this. But then the other side to this publicity dare is the confidence with which Dhyanimani‘s producer Mahesh Manjrekar and director Chandrakant Kulkarni are approaching the film’s release slated February 10.

Tweets from actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sachn Khedekar, Bhau Kadam, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sanjay Jadhav, Sandeep Pathak, Anand Ingle, Sanskruti Balgude, Vaidehi Parshurami, Akash Thosar and Pooja Sawant saying ‘Don’t watch Dhyanimani’ are already creating a flutter in the social media even as critics as well as fans of the film are wondering what has made the producer-director of the film take such a crazy gamble.

But then if some films make an impression unannounced and create a huge impact not only on ticket sales but also on your hearts one wonders if that is what the Manjrekar-Kulkarni duo are preparing for. Like the ‘forbidden fruit is always sweet’ dictum, the film is likely to draw huge crowds at the theatres trying to figure out what does this film has that made such great stars tweet not to watch the film.

Dhyanimani Marathi Movie Photo MAhesh Manjarekar and Ashwini Bhave Stills

Having said that, this is just not another publicity gimmick by Manjrekar-Kulkarni. Modern cinema is not just limited to a great storyline but also on production qualities and the chutzpah with which these films are promoted.

And that is what the duo have done with Dhyanimani’s promotions. Such negative publicity only speaks about the confidence and chutzpah with which Manjrekar-Kulkarni, have created a niche for their kind of film-making and with Dhyanimani the duo are all set to create another innovation that will herald a New Age of film-making and promotions.

Get Ready for Fugay’s Glamorous Kamini

Along with the hot new ‘S’ factor of Marathi cinema — read Swwapnil Joshi and Subodh Bhave — that you will see in the forthcoming Fugay, hot star Neeta Shetty will be making her debut too.

Neeta Shetty, who has already taken the small screen by a storm with Hindi TV serials, and labelled ‘bold’ will be opening her account in the world of Marathi films with Fugay.

Neeta will be essaying an interesting character and play the lead opposite Subodh Bhave.

Directed by Swapna Waghmare, Fugay will see Neeta playing the role of Kamini, a bindhast, naughty and modern-thinking girl. The film will see Neeta playing the act of a tattoo artist and we bet that the audiences will be entertained and enjoy her role in the film.

Interestingly, since Neeta is actually very bold, bindhast, naught and modern-thinking in her real life you must be curious to know about how exactly her character pans out in the film.
