Bollywood Singer Shahid Mallya Debuts As Marathi Singer For ‘Mithun’ !

Bollywood’s singer, Shahid Mallya is all set to make his singing debut in Marathi Film industry, with a song in upcoming Marathi film – Mithun along with him Maharashtra’s beloved singer Adarsh Shinde and Savani Ravindra. A fresh new pair of Adarsh-Savani will definitely bliss the atmosphere with a sensational romantic track – “Prem Tu Maaz”. The love melody will soon be out. Lyrics is penned by Akshay Valke, while the song is composed by Ajay Jadhav.

The movie is produced by Ravindra (Baapu) Harpale, Vilas Meher, Jeevan Jadhav, Prakash Pawar, the film is co-produced by Chetan Gade and Jitesh More. After Ranjan, Prakash Pawar as Director, is all set to give another hit.

Interview with Abhijeet Satam

1. Take us through your journey so far. What made you do a comeback in acting?

I am closely working in two very dynamic fields; entertainment and computer tech.My journey in entertainment industry started with intercollegiate theatre for which I won several best actor and best play awards.

During the final year of college, alongwith one of my college buddies, I started a theatre production company, under which we produced several successful and award winning plays like Mukkam Post Bombilwadi, Sangeet Lagna Kallol, Makeup, Sakhya etc. We were the youngest and consistently ranked successful independent production companies working on Maharashtra theatre circuit at that time for which won Young Entrepreneurs Awards. Recent productions are the known ones, Mr and Mrs, Strawberry and Ek Shoonya Teen.

Simultaneously,I was working as an actor, director for shorts, documentaries and feature films. One of the films which I directed ‘Tyre Ki Hawa..’ got selected at international film festivals and won awards in national short films competitions. This was seen by several known personalities from advertising fraternity. This opened doors for me to the advertising world, and I started working as a freelance director for various reputed advertising film companies and brands.

I also have co-produced and directed the Marathi feature film Haapus, which went on to become the highest grosser of the year.

Alongwith media and entertainment field, I was also working very closely on computer tech and programming with few of my techie friends. And cofounded an IT firm Comcomm, under which we built platforms for consumer markets. Currently,Comcomm is also developing softwares and tech for government bodies.

Works like these kept me a bit away from acting for the past 3-4 years.

Then, unexpectedly,came this show ‘Shatada Prem Karave’. It’s simple, connectable yet different and defines the concept of ageless love.

Another important reason I accepted this was because of the three women who are directly and indirectly involved in this decision of mine. Our producer Smruti Shinde who happens to be a good friend, Star Pravah Programming Head Shrabani Deodhar who is a family friend and whom I have always respected as a film maker and importantly my wife Madhura who actually pushed me to take up acting offer and explore.

So I am back on TV for ShatadaPremKarave to explore the actor in me and learn new things in the process.

Which was the turning point in your career?

Actually there are various, to name one such point in life then it would be college festivals because of which I got introduced to amateur theatre and computer programming as an extracurricular activity.

I always say that, I am an official student of MD College and an unofficial student of the IIT Bombay where I used to hang out and learn technology deeper.

How do you juggle between your tech company, passion for producing plays & acting?

When you want to do the things you seriously love to do, juggling doesn’t feel like juggling. Time management is something that would come to you naturally and you won’t feel the pressure of juggling.

Tell us about your most memorable project.

Each project I am connected with till now has always been cherished and is memorable to me. Like ShatadaPremKarave on Star Pravahwill be on its own way.

Also talk about your dream project.

I am already working on them. One among them is Shatada Prem Karave, which came to me like a dream. I am happy to work with a passionate team of co-actors, crew members, producer and channel Star Pravah.

Please share any funny anecdote from your life.

One such incident instantly remember is of my grandfather. He had a habit of keenly reading 3-4 newspapers a day, from the first page till the last. As he grew older he couldn’t read them as easily. So he started this trick on me.For each page which I would have to read out to him he used to pay me a rupee.Now when I think back about it, it was extreme fun. This not only made me an avid reader buy also enriched me to be more enterprising.

Tell us about your upcoming serial ‘Shatada Prem Karave’ on Star Pravah?

As said earlier, it’s a very refreshing and beautiful story of two distinct characters Unmesh and Sayali. We would want to make you see love through a new lens where it knows no boundaries and is ageless.

How did you get selected for Unmesh’s role?

One morning I got a call from our producer Smruti Shinde and she offered me this role of Unmesh. I was hesitant but she was surer than me in the very first call itself. So I would say I need to thank her for selecting me.

What sort of reactions are you getting from your fans, friends, relatives and acquaintances for your role & the serial?

Most people who are seeing the show promos and know about this venture are extremely happy and positive about the show and me playing a part in it.

What are your forthcoming projects?

Other than Shatada Prem Karave, there are two feature films acting assignments. One with Mahesh Manjrekar and other with new director Shibu Sable. Both are different genres and filming process is on.

There would a new theatre play, still untitled and in pre-production phase, which would be announced as things fall in place.

On the tech front, there are many softwares which we are developing for direct consumer platforms and also for government sectors.

Gajendra Ahire’s Upcoming Marathi Venture – Sohala.

Sohaala is a upcoming film of Gajendra Ahire, under the banner of Arihant Films Production . The final schedule of the film was recently shot in the Chris Villa located in Ireland. Produced by Sohan Bokadiya and Suresh Gunde, Presented by K.C. Bokadiya, the film is directed by Gajendra Ahire. The last schedule was of party song, tuned by Narendra Bhide, choreographed by Phulwa Khamkar with the led Sachin Pilgoankar and Shilpa Tulskar with Astha Khamkar ,Lokesh Gupte and other dancers.

Director Ganjendra Ahire said, “The story is a family story with completely new angle to it. The story resembles to the day-to-days micro-families and the change that occurred in families as well as on the relationship due to it. A true attempt is made to showcase the changes in relationships in this modern era. Sachin and Shilpa are the leads in the film with Vikram Gokhale, Lokesh Gupte, Mohan Joshi and other with their part to play.

After the shoots of song ‘Zindagi Hi Gol Gol Ahe’, Sachin spoke, “This is the last day of this schedule. Speaking about the film, the story is hidden in its title itself. The film is a complete celebration of all the relations. Earlier there were joint families, which went on to reduce with generations to micro-families like today’s. Similarly the relationship has changed. Each and every one will be connected to one or another character from the film for sure.”

Actress Shilpa said, “During the shoot, I and Sachin knew exactly what Ganjendra wanted from us. Thus a strong tuning between us was developed which has taken the film to another level. Everything has come out exactly the way we wanted to be. The film is family based drama with everyone to celebrate…in other words it truly a celebration of bonding of old and new.”

After the announcement audience were excited to know that who will be cast against Madhuri Dixit in the film and now the wait is over! The channel has always encouraged novel ideas for a show and steered clear from typical saas-bahu melodrama. It is heartening to see them sticking to that policy till now. Katti Batti’s promo was just released online and it seems like a really promising show.

The promo opens with a close-up on a couple who are sitting next to each other. They seem rather nervous for some reason. We are then immediately introduced to their families and realise that they have come together to finalise whether the couple will get married or not.

The two families get into a heated argument. The girl’s family seems rustic and rural in their demeanour, while the boy’s family is polished and urban. Both the sides have equal pride about their roots and indulge in name calling.

In your typical serial this would have been a perfect setting to begin an emotional melodrama, but Katti Batti chooses to look at the situation with a humourous outlook. The couple are both seen predicting the worst for their impending marriage with glee and our quite relieved when the girl’s family choose to walk out of the house. But that is not the only place where the promo pleasantly surprises you.

The pair somehow seem to develop some chemistry in the moments that their families are taking potshots at each other. They seem to have sensed that both of them think alike and probably share the same outlook to life. As the girl’s family stomps out of the boy’s house steaming with anger, the guy asks her out! Yes, their prospective marriage just broke, but the couple is attracted to each other! Isn’t that a totally novel idea?

In usual arrange marriage cases, we have the parents of the family forcing the boy and girl to meet each other. But, here, it’s the other way round! (Also Read – Baapmanus – Zee Yuva Comes Up With A ‘Baap’ of All Shows !)

The girl played by actress Ashwini Kasar seems interested in the guy too. But after the big showdown between the two families, she doesn’t know how the two would meet each other. And at that note the promo ends.
