Marathi actor-director ‘Subodh Bhave’ and his son ‘Malhar’ will be sharing screen time for the first time in Fugay. You may have seen many father-son pairs acting in Marathi films before this but Fugay will be the first time that a real-life son will be playing his father’s childhood character.

Fugay, as the name suggests, is a story of two friends — giving company to Bhave will be Swwapnil Joshi, another popular star — who have created a ruckus among their families because of their friendship.

Interestingly, Vihaan Nishandar, who plays Swapnil’s childhood character is the son of Kartik Nishandar, incidentally also Fugay’s co-producer along with Arjun of GSEAMS.

Those who have seen the film’s rushes vouch for the stunning chemistry not only between Subodh Bhave and Swapnil Joshi but also of ‘Malhar Bhave’ and ‘Vihaan Nishandar’.

Fugay, which can be dubbed as the backstory of budding friendship, is directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi.

The film has been produced by STV Networks along with GSEAMS Kartik Nishandar-Arjun Barhan along with Ashwin Anchan and Anuradha Joshi while Inder Raj Kapoor is the film’s presenter.

Considering the film’s cute title Fugay is already hot in the social media.

When Aamir Khan Meets Nagraj Manjule

Both perfectionists to the see when it comes to their trade, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Marathi film industry’s most bankable director in recent times came together to shoot a video with a social message. Directed by Manjule for the Paani Foundation, the five minute clip, that has already gone viral on the Internet, has the entire Sairat team — Nagraj Manjule, Aakash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru, co-actors, music director duo Ajay-Atul (Gogavale) — along with Sai Tamhankar, Sunil Barve, standing shoulder to shoulder with the King Khan, as they take shovels in their hands and dig trenches for water conservation and watershed management in Maharashtra’s arid landscape.

The music for the Paani Foundation video is composed by the duo and the song ‘Toofan Aala’ is sung by Kiran Rao and Ajay Gogavale.

Ajay Thakur has penned the lyrics that bring to you the hardships faced by the drought-affected farmers and their families of Maharashtra.

Interestingly, the video was launched on January 3, 2017 in Mumbai as part of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup’s second edition in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The first edition of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup contest succeeded in creating 1,386 crore litre of water storage capacity in Maharashtra in early 2006.

To encourage villages across Maharashtra’s dry landscape Paani Foundation organizes a contest where they offer Rs 50 lakh, Rs 30 lakh and Rs 20 lakh as first, second and third prize respectively to the village that creates the maximum water storage capacity.

This year the competition period is between April 8 and May 22, a month before the onset of monsoons so that the Maharashtra adds more water in drought-affected areas. The last date for submitting applications for this contest in the designated talukas is January 31, 2017.

Marathi cinema is on an rollicking roll these days. Even as filmmakers experiment with their story-lines and characterization, Marathi cinema it seems has emerged as a magnet for actors from Bollywood. Close on the heels of Sharad Kelkar becoming a star with ‘Lai Bhari’ and Murli Sharma with ‘Guru’, handsome hunk, Anoop Singh Thakur, who began his career at 22 on the small screen is all set to storm the Marathi cinema with Bebhaan. Directed by Anoop Ashok Jagdale and produced and co-produced by Madhukar (Anna) Uddhav Deshpande and Prasad Deshpande respectively, the film has Mrunmayee playing lead with Thakur.

Interestingly, Bebhaan’s poster that was released recently, shows Thakur in a rowdy avatar against a red background indicating that the film is a love story and the male lead is madly in love with his co-actor. Undoubtedly, the poster has gone viral in social media with the Gen X sharing it widely. Written by Dinesh Deshpande and produced under the banner of Shambhavi Films, Bebhaan is slated for an early release in the New Year.

We will soon be into the New Year and people have already made preparations to celebrate the onset of 2017. Late night parties will soon reach a fever pitch.

I would like to request the Gen X to party with responsibility on the eve of the New Year.

Take utmost care and whatever you do in life do it sincerely. Success will be all yours.

In the New Year I have planned to do better as an actor, director and writer than I did in 2016. I will be coming to you with a new film directed by me in 2017. But remember not to forget to the old relationships and memories as you prepare to ring in the New.

Riteish Deshmukh is among the many friends I made in 2016. I met him during the shoot of Star Pravah’s ‘Vikta Ka Uttar’. he is a good human being and we have become good friends.

I wish to make new friends in the New Year just like I made friends in 2016 or before that. But even as I make new friends, I only wish I will not forget the bonds and relationships of the old.

I don’t make any New Year resolutions. But I religiously make a list of my top 10 priorities and set out myself to achieve those tasks.

Interestingly, I have a different plan in 2017. I had signed a flurry of films in 2016 but for some reasons only a few are on their way to hit the screens. As a result of this I am going to resolve myself to collect complete information about a project before going ahead and signing up for it.

I have always enjoyed myself with experimenting with my roles and characters and challenge myself to do better than I did in my last role. The New Year too will see me continue in this gear.

I want to do more films like ‘Jogwa’ and ‘Yellow’ that expose the social discrimination and injustices against certain sections of Indian society. In fact, because I did such socially relevant roles people began to think that I am an actor-activist.

My next film Kshitij is also based on the ills plaguing our society. The film is about a girl’s struggle for education and I am playing the role of a farmer from Vidarbha. I hope people will like the film.
