Eros International’s “PHUNTROO” Shooting Completed

Directed By Sujay Dahake Is A Sci Fi Love-Story

Releasing On 12 February 2016

There are some filmmakers who keep on experimenting with new genres and subjects are hailed as experimental and practical filmmakers. Sujay Dahake who is in the forefront of young and radical experimental filmmakers in Marathi is in the news these days on account of his new experiment after ‘Ajoba’. Sujay is making his first ever sci fi film, a love story in Marathi. The final shooting schedule completed of the film Pune at Gokhale Institute currently.

An Eros International presentation produced by Krishika Lulla, ‘Phuntroo’ has been shot in a spectacularly short period of time ever since its mahurat was held a few months ago and has been exactly on schedule. It is Krishika Lulla’s first Marathi film. After, the phenomenal success of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, it is her first ever foray in Marathi, with Ajay Thakur and Spice Studios as co-producers.

The credit for having completed the film as per schedule ought to go to Sujay Dahake but he gives the credit to his team comprising of his cast and crew. “Any film is actually a team effort and it depends on the team to complete a film on time as per the schedule. The director of course does his job but then unless and until the cast and crew do not cooperate with him in the task; it is extremely difficult to complete a film. We are lucky that we got a producer like Krishika Lulla who provided at our disposal whatever we needed, as a result of which there was absolutely nil obstacle. Not only did Krishika provide us with financial assistance but also supported us with her valuable guidance and every actor has worked as per the expectations and even beyond and given 100% to the film. It is only because of this that I could come up with a different film. The technical work remains but we will be able to compete it soon.”

Krishika says that though it is a Marathi film, the discipline on the sets was seen to be believed and it was akin to that on the sets of any Hindi film sets. Why today Marathi films can easily compete with Hindi films will be revealed when ‘Phuntroo’ is released.. The experience of working with the actors and the crew was amazing and unforgettable, says Krishika Lulla.

Singer actress Ketaki Mategaonkar plays the lead in the film along with Madan Deodhar, Shivraj Vaichal, Shivani Rangole, Rituraj Shinde, Anshuman Joshi, Rohit Nikam etc. The film is about mechanical engineering students and what happens when one falls a prey to technology. Make up is by Vinod Sarode, while costume is by Ayushi Dagad, Satyajit Deshpande is the art director while Archana Bhorhade cranks the  camera. The film has been shot at Pune, Alibaug and Saswad.

It was during the making of this movie that Nandita realized that there is enormous talent which is untapped in various parts of India who can get a chance in her movies. She even wants to revive old traditional street plays also known as “Nukkad Natak” which is a part of our traditional heritage as it can provide employment to various people in the villages and smaller cities thus addressing the unemployment issue of India in the Media & Entertainment Industry. This can be source of livelihood for the unemployed who are talented in street plays and folk theater and the most talented actors and other crew who can even get a golden chance in her Hollywood, Bollywood and Regional movies.

 BHARAT PUNARNIRMAN is an Initiative conceptualized by Nandita Singgha who firmly believes in discovering the real talent of India from Tier II Cities, Tier III Cities, Tier IV Towns and all villages of India at the grass root level. This will even be the first initiative across the length and breadth of India in making a social issue reach out to more people in villages related to their livelihood, hygiene, family planning, female foeticide, casteism, dowry, black magic,diseases to name a few. She believes that we have to provide a means of employment to youth who are going directionless and are unemployed even after having a degree. Plot Outline :

‘ख्वाडा’द्वारे रांगड्या भाऊ शिंदेचे पदार्पण

एक खेडूत तरुण शेती करीत असताना, अचानकपणे ‘फिल्म मेकिंग’चे शिक्षण काय घेतो, मित्राला मदत करण्यासाठी, सहाय्यक दिग्दर्शक बनतो आणि पुढे त्या चित्रपटाचा नायक म्हणून पुढे येतो काय? सारेच विलक्षण! ‘ख्वाडा’ या चित्रपटाच्या निमित्ताने अस्सल मऱ्हाटी बाज असलेला ‘भाऊसाहेब’ हा नवा चेहरा मराठी चित्रसृष्टीत दाखल होत आहे.

‘ख्वाडा’ या मराठी चित्रपटाच्या निमित्ताने अस्सल मऱ्हाटी रफ एंड टफ चेहरा ‘भाऊसाहेबा’च्या निमित्ताने मराठी चित्रपट सृष्टीला सापडला आहे. कणखर पीळदार शरीरयष्टी असणारा भाऊ शिंदे  याच्या अभिनयाची जातकुळी अत्यंत वेगळी असून तरुण वर्गात त्याची क्रेझ होऊ लागली आहे.  सोशल मीडियात भाऊ लोकप्रिय होऊ लागला आहे. ग्रामीण ठसका आणि रांगडेपणा याची नजाकत असणारा त्याचा नायक २२ ऑक्टोबरला मोठ्या पडद्यावर अवतरणार आहे. ‘भाऊ’च्या या पहिल्याच प्रयत्नावर प्रभात पुरस्काराची मोहोर उमटली आहे.

‘ख्वाडा’च्या नायकासाठी अनेक ऑडिशन्स झाल्या, पण कोणताही चेहरा पसंत पडत नव्हता आणि अचानक कऱ्हाडे यांचे ६४ किलो वजनाच्या भाऊसाहेबवर लक्ष गेले. कऱ्हाडे भाऊसाहेबाला म्हणाले, शुटिंग सुरु होईपर्यंत पुढच्या एका महिन्यात तुझे वजन ७५ किलो झाले, तर ‘बाळू’ची भूमिका तुला मिळेल. भाऊसाहेबाने तब्बल ७७ किलो पर्यंत वजन वाढविले आणि महाराष्ट्राला मिळाला नवा नायक ‘बाळू’ अर्थात भाऊ शिंदे. या नायकाची कहाणी काही वेगळीच आहे. ‘ख्वाडा’चा हा नायक, आजपर्यंत शेती करीत होता. त्याच्या आई-वडिलांना वाटायचे,भाऊने साहेब व्हावे, म्हणून त्यांनी, त्याचे नाव भाऊसाहेब ठेवले, मात्र त्याला दिग्दर्शक होण्याचे स्वप्न होते. ‘ख्वाडा’चे दिग्दर्शक भाऊराव कऱ्हाडे यांच्या संपर्कात आल्यानंतर, त्यांच्याच पावलावर पाय ठेऊन, भाऊसाहेबाने अहमदनगर येथील ‘न्यू आर्टस अॅन्ड सायन्स’ महाविद्यालयात प्रवेश घेतला आणि मास कम्युनिकेशन चे शिक्षण पूर्ण केले आहे.

तडफदार रुबाबदार दिसणारा भाऊसाहेब आपल्या गावरान देह्बोलीमुळे शहरी तरुणाईत लोकप्रिय होऊ लागला आहे. भाऊ ह्या भूमिकेविषयी विषयी म्हणाला, कि “मी ‘ला स्ट्राडा’ हा  फ्रेडेरीको फेलीनीचा चित्रपट पहिला होता आणि त्यातील ‘जेलेटा मसिना’चा अभिनय आणि तरलपणा मला भावला होता. त्याचाच मला ही व्यक्तीरेखा साकारताना उपयोग झाला.”

दिग्दर्शक भाऊराव कऱ्हाडे म्हणाले, की प्रेक्षकांना जे हवे आहे, ते देणाऱ्या या चित्रपटामध्ये भाऊसाहेबाने व्यक्तिरेखेचे आव्हान लीलया पेलले असून, त्याने कोणतीही कसर सोडली नाही त्याची ही भूमिका पाहून प्रेक्षकच म्हणतील बंदे में हैं दम!
