Ever increasing heat and emptying of water reserves this picture of Maharashtra isn’t any new. Till yesterday it was just till Marathwada but now this question has reached west Maharashtra too. For this condition constantly blaming the changing climate and untimely rains is old but very few are aware that this is because of our mistakes and we are responsible for it. Even if there is an issue in all 4 directions very few seem to fight against it. Drying wells in villages, shortage of water due to wastage of water, villages which depend on water tanker and the politics that takes place this picture is getting more and more dense. To fight against this only one man’s effort is not enough, it needs people’s participation and this purpose was recognized by a few organizations and they have taken a step ahead. One such foundation which is renowned is Paani foundation.

Renowned actor from Hindi film industry and even after staying in magic city the person who treasures social awareness , actor Amir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, co-operative Satyajeet Bhatkal and water scientist Dr. Avinash Pol have together formed this institution and last year ‘water cup’  this new enterprise was taken up.

A few villages from Maharashtra having acute water shortage were picked and to fight back the issue many solutions, easy ways and easy doable experiments were showed to the villagers. They were told that using the methods shown the village which become drought free will be awarded. They has support of Maharashtra government too. Last year water cup competition took place in 3 talukas and 116 villages ; this year it’s going to be held in 30 talukas and 1300 villages. In this taluka’s from  Marathwada, Vidharbha and west Maharashtra are included and a few representatives have been elected especially for them. In which famous actor Girish Kulkarni and actress Pratiksha Lonkar are representing Marathwada.
