Social Message From Short Film 'Palakhi Ani Nantar'

SOCIAL MESSAGE FROM ‘PALAKHI ANI NANTAR’!

THE AWARENESS OF CLEANLINESS PROBLEMS  ON THE ROAD FOR THE WARKARI SECT IN A SHORT FILM!

There are a lot of cleanliness problems which occur during Ashadi and Ekadashi in Pandharpur. So the Government has drawn up a lot of plans  to solve this problem. On this background the short film ‘ Palakhi ani Nantar’ has shed some light on the problem.

The ritual of Warkaris is an old one in Maharashtra which is almost 700 years old and still carrying on strongly. ‘The longest devotional walk is the record of this Warkaris who go on walking to Pandharpur from all parts of Maharashtra . Many short films, documentaries and films have made on this subject but Palakhi and Nantar is a different genre of a short film which gives a different viewpoint to this problem. The film has been made by the man behind such films as ‘Shala’, ‘Fandry’ and now ‘Chaurya’ which releasing on 5 August , his name is Nilesh Navlakha who has directed the short film and produced it too under his banner of Navlakha Arts & Holy Basil Productions and  who have made this short film as a social responsibility.

The issue of cleanliness on the path of wari of the Warakari sect and to find a solution to this problem is the missive of  former MLA Pradeep Rawat under the aegis of Seva Sahyog  Production who had taken an initiative to solve this problem. Last year they had adopted two villages and had donated two mobile toilets and it got a very good response. Taking inspiration from this the social cleanliness message has been communicated  to the Warkari pantheon and the society in general and that’s the reason why this short film has been made. The film has been edited by Mayur Hardas, DOP is Atharva Wagh, and Anvey Bendre is he voice over commentator.

Revealing a different shade of the issue of the warkaris , Nilesh Navlakaha says, ” Last year in Pandharpur , The Government along with a few private institutions had built 500 toilets but still many warkaris defecate on open spaces and as the warkaris go every year on a piligrimage every year this has become a regular feature but a new way to stop this should be found. The Government is initiating Nirmal Wari like facilities. But the warkaris must take it upon them to use the facilities provided and make a clean wari . Only then this problem can be solved. They must realize that a lot of dangerous diseases spread  because of uncleanliness.  Therefore this film has been made to to make people aware that the wari is not only because of their devotion to Lord Vitthal but also cleanliness  which is an anti-thesis which the society must know. The film implores warkaris to use toilets and make all the roads clean”.

This film will be seen on various mediums to reach the society at large  and also make the use of social media primarily. And this film will be showcased in many national and international film festivals.
